पंचमढ़ी मध्यप्रदेश का एक खूबसूरत हिल स्टेशन है जिसे पंचमढ़ी कैंट के नाम से भी जाना जाता है. इसे सतपुड़ा की रानी के उपनाम से भी जाना जाता है. होशंगाबाद जिले में स्थित पंचमढ़ी 1100 मीटर की ऊंचाई पर बसा है. सिंध व सतपुड़ा की सुंदर पहाड़ियों से घिरा यह पर्यटन स्थल मध्यप्रदेश का सबसे ऊंचा पर्यटन स्थल है. यहां की सुंदरता भारी संख्या में पर्यटकों को लुभाती है और गर्मियों के दौरान यहां सैलानियों का तांता लगा रहता है.

यहां पर्यटकों को आकर्षित करने की हर चीज मौजूद है. खूबसूरत वाटरफॉल्स, शांत कलकल बहती नदी, खूबसूरत घाटियां जैसे प्रकृतिक के अद्भुत सौन्दर्य है. इसके अलावा पंचमढ़ी का पौराणिक और ऐतिहासिक महत्व भी है. मान्यता है कि पचमढ़ी या पंचमढ़ी पांडवों की पांच गुफाओं से बना है. कहा जाता है कि पांडवों ने अपने अज्ञातवास के दौरान ज्यादा समय यही बिताया था.

कैसे पड़ा नाम
पंचमढ़ी दो शब्द पंच अर्थात पांच और मढ़ी अर्थात गुफा से मिल कर बना है. मान्यता है कि यहां मौजूद ये पांच गुफाएं पांडवों ने महाभारत काल में अपने वनवास के दौरान बनाया था. ये गुफाएं यहां एक ऊंचे पर्वत शिखर पर मौजूद हैं.

पंचमढ़ी का इतिहास
पहले पंचमढ़ी पर गोंड जनजाति का राज था. ब्रिटिश राज से पहले यह इसी जनजाति की राजधानी थी. 1887 में ब्रिटिश सैनिक कैप्टन जेम्स फोर्स्थ ने इसका परिचय पश्चिमी दुनिया से कराया. अंग्रेजों ने भी पंचमढ़ी को मध्यप्रदेश की राजधानी बनाया.

आजादी के बाद 1967 तक पंचमढ़ी मध्यप्रदेश की ग्रीष्मकालीन राजधानी थी. यहां मुख्यमंत्री और अन्य मंत्रियों के भी बंगले मौजूद हैं. साथ ही यहां एक राजभवन भी है जो राज्यपाल के ठहरने के लिए उपयोग में लाया जाता था. अब कई बार राज्य शासन और विपक्षी पार्टियों की मीटिंग यहां आयोजित की जाती है.

पंचमढ़ी में क्या देखें
धूपगढ़ः यह सतपुड़ा रेंज का सबसे ऊंचा प्वाइंट है. इसे सनराइज और सनसेट प्वाइंट के नाम से भी जाना जाता है.

चारुगढ़ः यह दूसरा सबसे ऊंचा प्वाइंट है. इसका धार्मिक महत्व भी है क्योंकि इसके शिखर पर एक शिव मंदिर स्थित है.

पांडव गुफाएं: यहां प्राचीन कालीन पांच गुफाएं हैं. हिंदू कथाओं के अनुसार, महाभारत काल के दौरान यहां पांडवों ने आश्रय लिया था. गुफा के पास ही एक बेहद खूबसूरत गार्डन भी है. अब इन गुफाओं को राष्ट्रीय स्मारक घोषित कर दिया गया है.

जलप्रपातः यहां कई झरने मौजूद हैं. इनमें से प्रमुखः 2800 फीट से अधिक ऊंचा सिल्वर फॉल या रजत प्रपात, बी-फॉल (मशहूर पिकनिक स्पॉट) , लिटिल फॉल, डचेस फॉल हैं.

महादेव मंदिरः यह एक गुफा मंदिर है, जो खूबसूरत पेंटिंग्स के लिए प्रसिद्ध है. यह गुफा लगभग 30 मीटर लंबी है.

कैसे पहुंचे पंचमढ़ी
सड़क मार्ग से पंचमढ़ी भोपाल और इंदौर से अच्छी तरह जुड़ा हुआ है. भोपाल के हबीबगंज बस टर्मिनल से बसें चलती हैं जो 5-6 घंटे में पंचमढ़ी पहुंचती हैं. पंचमढ़ी पहुंचने के लिए नजदीकी रेलवे स्टेशन पिपरिया है जो केवल 50 किलोमीटर की दूरी पर स्थित है. अगर आप हवाई मार्ग से पहुंचना चाहते हैं तो भोपाल और नागपुर यहां से नजदीकी एयरपोर्ट हैं.

मुंबई से पंचमढ़ीः 911 किलोमीटर

कब जाएं पंचमढ़ी
पंचमढ़ी का तापमान 25 डिग्री से ज्यादा नहीं रहता अतः यहां साल के किसी भी महीने में जाया जा सकता है.
