हिन्दू परंपरा में किसी भी शुभ कार्य की शुरुआत करते समय शुभ मुहूर्त जरूर देखा जाता है। ऐसे में विवाह के बंधन में बंधने के लिए शादी का शुभ मुहूर्त जरूर निकाला जाता है। इस बार 21 जुलाई को विवाह का शुभ मुहूर्त है उसके के बाद पांच महीनों के लिए विवाह का कोई भी शुभ मुहू्र्त नहीं बनेगा। साल 2018 के अंतिम महीनों में विवाह के बहुत कम ही शुभ मुहूर्त बन रहे हैं।  शुक्र की स्थिति बदलने, गुरु के अस्त होने, चातुर्मास के आने की वजह से बहुत कम मुहूर्त है।

23 जुलाई 2018 से देवशयनी एकादशी होने के कारण चातुर्मास शुरू हो जाएगा जो 19 नवंबर 2018 तक चलेगा। इस कारण से 4 महीने में विवाह के कोई मुहूर्त नहीं होंगे। फिर इसके बाद 16 दिसंबर 2018 से 14 जनवरी 2019 तक धनुर्मास रहने के कारण विवाह नहीं हो सकेंगे। इसके अलावा 13 नवंबर 2018 से 8 दिसंबर 2018 तक गुरु अस्त रहेंगे जिसके कारण से विवाह नहीं पाएगा।

इस महीने 21 जुलाई को भदड़िया नवमी है और इसी दिन शादी का आखिरी शुभ मुहूर्त रहेगा। इसके बाद शादी विवाह थम जाएगा। 23 जुलाई को देवशयनी एकादशी है जिसमें 4 महीने के लिए भगवान विष्णु सोने के लिए क्षीर सागर में चले जाएंगे। देवाताओं के शयन मुद्रा में होने से कोई भी मांगलिक कार्य नहीं होते। 4 महीने के बाद 19 नवंबर को देवोत्थान एकादशी है जिसमें भगवान अपनी निद्रा का त्याग करके दोबारा पृथ्वी पर आते हैं। इस बार देवोत्थान एकादशी के बाद भी विवाह का कोई शुभ मुहूर्त नहीं है क्योंकि गुरु और शुक्र ग्रह के अस्त होने के कारण विवाह का योग नहीं बनेगा। दोबारा शुक्र और गुरु के उदय होने पर ही शुभ समय शुरू हो सकेंगे। 11 दिसंबर 2018 से विवाह का साया आरम्भ होगा।
